“D-Day Conneaut” is an annual recreation of June 6th, 1944 that takes place in Conneaut, Ohio, the home of Grandpa’s Castle. This realistic reenactment of the World War II European Theater of Operations and the D-Day Normandy invasion began in 1999 and is for education purposes, taking place at the Conneaut Township Park.
The annual event features over 1,500 living history re-enactors representing WWII U.S., Commonwealth and German soldiers, sailors, and support. It also includes additional personnel plus French Resistance and 1940s civilians.
Over the past 6 years, Grandpa’s Castle has provided housing for the German Officer command staff, and the French and U.S. Army enlisted staff here at one of Conneaut’s finest Bed & Breakfasts.
